Spaces In Between

Spaces In Between

An ongoing project exploring the natural soundscapes of environments and matching them with composed and musical elements. Through a process of spectrographic analysis, gaps in the auditory landscape are identified and filled with composition. Works are then adapted and evolved for site-specific installations.

A drafting stage in the development of the work for Signal Sound Commission, 2019:

Spectrographic analysis of recordings taken at Wilson's Promontory National Park, July 2019. Large swelling waves bookend the recording, whilst bird calls can be seen across the middle portion. Swelling musical elements have been added to follow the waves, whilst low harmonic tones underscore the birds.
